  1. Hi:

You did a great job with your final project. Having lived in Alaska you captured the mood with your color choices. I remember the pinks and blue sunsets over the white gray of the landscape - truly a beautiful site. The links and information you have provided are also well done. I like the way you tied in the writing activities to the blog. It helps the students become part of the experience. The other thing I like is the way you use the posting aspect of a blog as a way for students to submit their information.
    Cheers
    Jean H.

  2. Thanks for the compliments. I've been following the Iditarod as a class activity for 8 years and my high school students really enjoy it, especially when they choose the winner and get a gift certificate from McDonald's. Last year cost me big bucks since a lot of the students chose the previous year's winner, Lance Mackey, and he won again. So this year I will structure the winning prize differently.

  3. Wow, I really liked your blog. Our second graders do a unit on the Iditarod, and I can see us creating and using a blog for their unit. I agree with Jean's comments about the writing activities. When I showed this to our computer lab teacher, she started thinking of ways to use this idea in conjunction with the classroom teachers. Great job.
